The 2025 class of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has finally been unveiled, and it’s certainly not a boy’s club anymore.
A total of seven inductees have been announced, whittled down from the initial 14 listed earlier this year.
The group of artists forms a more conventional rock lineup, different from the more diverse classes from the previous years.
Announcing the inductees on the latest episode of American Idol, the full list is below:
Bad Company
Chubby Checker
Joe Cocker
Cyndi Lauper
Outkast
Soundgarden
The White Stripes
The full induction ceremony will be taking place on November 8 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, being streamed on Disney+ and then becoming available on Hulu the next day.
Hopeful artists who did not end up making the cut include The Black Crowes, Billy Idol, Maná and Phish, all first time nominees.
Other artists were Mariah Carey and Oasis, both first getting nominated in 2024, as well as Joy Division/New Order, who were nominated first in 2023.
Veteran jam band Phish successfully took the fan vote with a whopping 330,000 votes, around 50,000 higher than the previous artist with the highest votes, Bad Company. However, it is important to note that winning the fan vote does not guarantee induction.
They are joining the list formed by Dave Matthews Band in 2020, where the artists won the fan vote but did not get selected for induction.
The musicians with the most votes included Phish, Bad Company, Idol, Lauper, Cocker, Soundgarden and Checker.
