James Gunn's Superman, which serves as a launchpad for the new DC Universe, smashed the global box office in less than a week, marking a major success for the DC Studios co-heads.

DC CEOs Gunn and Peter Safran are moving forward with a lineup of TV shows and movies set in the revamped universe.

The upcoming releases include Peacemaker Season 2, the movie Supergirl, and the Lanterns TV series in 2026.

In addition, Clayface is also expected to begin filming this year.

Recently, while speaking with CBS Mornings, Gunn shared that each instalment in the franchise will have its own identity, much like individual comic books.

"Clayface is a totally different thing. Although it’s in the same universe, it’s a complete horror film — and that’s one of the things we want to do," Gunn said. "There’s not a company style. It’s not like every movie is gonna be like Superman. The artists, the directors, and the writers that create each one will bring their own sense to it... We don’t want people being bored."

Gunn’s Superman, the spearhead of the new Universe, brought bright colours, a fresh pace compared to Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, and a unique portrayal of the iconic hero.

The director has also confirmed that Supergirl, slated for release next year, will be a full-blown space fantasy, making it distinctly different from Superman.
