Billy Joel’s two-part docuseries targets the most vulnerable parts of his life, after the rock legend disclosed the details of his deteriorating health.

The Big Shot singer’s life story is laid bare in Billy Joel: And So It Goes, directed by Susan Lacy and Jessica Levin, the series follows his struggles with critics, alcoholism and money.

As per Variety, the pianist didn’t want to embark on the project, but management ended up convincing him, by telling him that 'it was the right time'.

In the documentary, the producers interview his ex-wives, pull the curtain off of some of his greatest hits and even contain segments from other big artists like Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney and Pink, as they discuss the impact he has had on the music industry.

Billy’s second wife, Christie Brinkley, who inspired the hit Uptown Girl noted, “It was fun to have a whirlwind romance and certain aspects of that turn into music,” but that things became difficult to manage when he began drinking.

Meanwhile, the Piano Man singer’s pre-fame suicide attempts, his search for his father and his mother’s depression and other addictions are also explored in-depth.
