Dua Lipa was recently awarded the citizenship of the Republic of Kosovo by President Vjosa Osmani.
The 29-year-old singer has been a proud advocate for her Kosovan heritage, which comes from her father, Dukagjin Lipa.
President Osmani shared a picture of the popstar and her on X (formerly Twitter) where she awarded her citizenship to her in a ceremony. The post had a long message that greeted Lipa on coming back home.
The caption read, “Welcome back home, Dua! I had the honor of granting the citizenship of the Republic of Kosovo to one of the most iconic cultural figures in our country’s history.”
Lipa is being honoured for the cultural impact she brought to the country, as the post further praised her iconic career.
Notably, a children’s choir serenaded her with her song, Levitating, which made the British pop princess emotional.
Later, she headlined the Sunny Hill festival in Kosovo, which was co-founded by her and her father, Dukagjin Lipa. It is considered a major cultural event in the country.
For the unversed, Dua Lipa was also awarded Albanian citizenship back in November 2022.
