The Oscar-winning animal crowd is back in Zootopia 2, with more wilderness, more chaos, and a brilliant cast lineup ready to voice the furry (and scaly) residents of Zootopia.
Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed the sequel to the 2016 Academy Award-winning hit in an interview with Deadline back in February 2023.
The first trailer, released in May 2025, revealed that animal detectives Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) are on a new case, this time involving a mysterious reptile who "arrives in Zootopia and turns the mammal metropolis upside down."
The official synopsis details: “To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before.”
Alongside Goodwin and Bateman, the original film also featured major stars like Idris Elba as the no-nonsense cop Chief Bogo, Jenny Slate reprising her role as the scheming sheep Bellwether, and Shakira returning as pop sensation Gazelle, who, let’s be real, was basically playing herself.
New to the cast is Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan, who joins the Zootopia universe as Gary De’Snake, a pit viper who becomes the centre of Judy and Nick’s investigation.
Other fresh faces include Fortune Feimster as Nibbles Maplestick, and Quinta Brunson as Dr. Fuzzby, a quokka therapist working with the detective duo.
Meanwhile, fan favourite Alan Tudyk returns as weasel crook Duke Weaselton, and Tommy Chong reprises his role as the ever-chill Yax.
Zootopia 2 opens in theatres on November 26, 2025.
