Prince Harry allegedly ignored Queen Elizabeth II’s heartfelt wish due to Meghan Markle’s influence, a former royal insider has sensationally claimed.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and moved to California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, a decision said to have deeply disappointed the late Queen.
Paul Burrell, Princess Diana’s former butler, told Casino Org that Queen Elizabeth “wanted Harry to stay as close to her as possible” but couldn’t persuade him because “the American in the equation wanted a different solution.”
Burrell claimed the Queen bent royal rules to keep Meghan in the fold, believing that “the institution could protect her better than the outside world.”
Despite their departure and ongoing tensions with the royal family, both Harry and Meghan have spoken fondly of the late monarch.
In their infamous 2021 interview with Oprah, Meghan described the Queen as “wonderful,” recounting their first joint engagement together and calling her “warm and inviting.”
Still, Burrell believes Harry’s decision to leave royal life was heavily influenced by Meghan’s desire for change, and that this defiance went against the Queen’s hopes for her grandson to remain “on the right path.”
