Gweynth Paltrow and Madonna had a wholesome start to their friendship, but it allegedly turned sour after an uncomfortable encounter.
The duo became friends through the Iron Man actress’s father, Bruce Paltrow, who wanted the Popular singer to encourage his daughter to stop smoking.
Thus, the singer often dubbed the "Queen of Pop" wrote a short note to the Goop owner when she was still in high school, encouraging her to quit the unhealthy habit.
The pair then became fast friends, and ended up remaining so a little while until after Gweynth’s first marriage to husband Chris Martin, when the girls' bond crumbled.
In a book titled Gwyneth: The Biography by Amy Odell, an excerpt details the reason behind the split of the A-listers.
Amy began, “Their relationship reached a breaking point when Madonna showed up to an island where Gwyneth and Martin were vacationing.”
The seven-time Grammy winner’s knowledge of the Academy Award winner’s whereabout made her feel strange about the entire ordeal.
Moreover, “Madonna then insisted Gwyneth and Martin join her for a big group dinner at a long table where Madonna went off on her daughter, Lourdes."
The Vogue crooner’s behaviour was disliked by both Gwyneth and her husband, and they decided to cut ties with her.
The entrepreneur shares two children with ex-husband Chris Martin, who is the lead singer of the Coldplay. The two got married in December 2003 and parted ways in 2016.
