Taylor Swift was paid $50,000 by Marc Maron

American stand-up comedian revealed why he paid $50,000 to Taylor Swift in a recent interview.

The writer said he needed to use Taylor’s song Bigger Than the Whole Sky, a bonus track on the 3am edition of Taylor's 2022 album Midnights, for a specific moment on his show Marc Maron: Panicked.

Marc said he had to get in touch with a mutual friend, Jack Antonoff, who worked on the album with Taylor, to get the licensing of the track.

“I know Jack Antonoff enough to text him, and he’s the co-writer on that song.”, Marc said on Vulture's Good One podcast.

March told Jack that he did not know on how to id properly and what is the official way to do it. He also told him that the production is out of money so it would have to come out of his personal pockets.

Eventually he asked him “Is there anything you can do about this song or talk to Taylor?”.

“It had to happen. The real fear (was), like, (if) she doesn’t let you use it, and then what do you do? You can’t do the bit on the special.”, he further added.
