Emma Thompson underwent an edgy transformation for her new role in the murder mystery series, Down Cemetery Road.

The 66-year-old actress debuted a spiky pixie cut in the first images from the show, in which she is portraying the role of a detective. She also rocked a black leather jacket and eye makeup for her role.

Produced by Morwenna Banks and directed by Natalie Bailey, the drama is an adaptation of Mick Herron's novel of the same name.

Led by Thompson, who plays Zoe Boehm, the story follows a woman who hires a private investigator after an explosion in a quiet suburban neighbourhood.

The highly anticipated series will consist of eight episodes, airing weekly, and features a star-studded cast that includes Ruth Wilson, Adeel Akhtar, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, and Tom Goodman-Hill.

Though Apple TV+ hasn’t released any details about the adaptation yet, fans are excited to see the Harry Potter actress return to the screen, with many taking to social media to express their thoughts.

One fan wrote, “I will be there.”

Another well-wisher commented, “One banger after another.”

Notably, Emma Thompson’s last appearance on screen was in 2022 for Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, where she played a widow named Nancy Stokes.

For the unversed, Down Cemetery Road will be released on October 29 in two parts on Apple TV+.
