Duchess Sophie, who is famously known as a secret weapon of King Charles, performed a key royal duty ahead of summer break.
The Duchess of Edinburgh visited two Battalions in Wiltshire as Colonel-in-Chief of The Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
She celebrated the 25th anniversary of Battalion with a speech during the parade.
Buckingham Palace honoured Sophie by releasing her photos and a statement detailing the tasks she performed.
The message reads, "The Duchess of Edinburgh, as Colonel-in-Chief of The Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, has visited two of their Battalions at their headquarters in Tidworth, Wiltshire."
"Celebrating their 25th anniversary, The Duchess inspected personnel from 4 Armoured Close Support Battalion REME and addressed the parade."
"On the Salisbury Plain Training Area, Her Royal Highness also learnt from 6 Armoured Close Support Battalion REME about the work they do to maintain and repair the Army’s armoured vehicles and equipment."
It is important to note that King Charles has been giving more responsibilities to Duchess Sophie and Prince Edward, especially after his cancer diagnosis, in order to strengthen the monarchy.
