Jessica Mulroney, once considered one of Meghan Markle’s closest friends, has faced a series of professional and personal challenges since reportedly falling out with the Duchess of Sussex in 2020.
Mulroney, a Canadian fashion stylist and marketing consultant, met Meghan in 2011 during the Duchess’s time on the television show Suits.
The pair developed a close friendship, with Mulroney playing a visible role at Meghan and Prince Harry’s 2018 royal wedding and attending her New York baby shower in 2019.
Mulroney has recently reentered headlines, this time for personal reasons, amid reports of her separation from husband Ben Mulroney after 16 years of marriage.
An unnamed source told The Sun that the alleged breakdown of her friendship with Meghan contributed to the strain.
“It didn’t help that Meghan effectively ghosted Jessica after 2020, basically cutting her off entirely,” the source claimed.
“Jessica played coy about the end of their friendship for a bit, but eventually started hinting that things were over.”
Their friendship is believed to have ended in 2020, following a public controversy involving Mulroney.
During the height of the Black Lives Matter protests, Mulroney was involved in a dispute with Black influencer Sasha Exeter.
Exeter alleged that Mulroney attempted to silence her and threatened her livelihood over differences in how the stylist was publicly engaging with anti-racism efforts.
In response, Mulroney issued a public apology and acknowledged that she had “lived a very public and personal experience with [her] closest friend where race was front and centre,” seemingly referencing Meghan.
Following the incident, Mulroney’s reality TV series I Do, Redo was cancelled by Canadian broadcaster CTV.
