Prince Harry and Meghan Markles credibility irreparably damaged, says expert

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have come under renewed criticism for their past revelations about the royal family, with a royal commentator calling their actions “toxic and destructive.”

According to Jack Royston, royal correspondent for Newsweek, their most damaging moment came during their now-infamous 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Speaking to The Sun, Royston said: “The problem is with the way Harry and Meghan piled in quite relentlessly on the royals. Particularly, I do think the Oprah interview, they did botch it. It could have been done differently and better in a way that would be less toxic and destructive.”

“The racism allegation, they have clearly tried to change it retrospectively or row it back. So, obviously, Meghan botched how she described that story.”

“They’ve always been floating these ideas that they’re sitting on a kind of a massive nuclear warhead that they can drop at any point,” he said, referencing past claims that Meghan had “receipts” to back up her allegations.

“But it doesn’t matter anymore,” Royston continued.

“Even if they did [drop new claims], they’re so uniformly viewed as the villains, particularly in Britain, but even in America, they’re not viewed in this protective way anymore.”

He concluded that Harry and Meghan had ultimately “destroyed themselves” by relentlessly attacking the royal family “in a context where no one was fighting back.”
