Former Bond girl Halle Berry left fans of the superspy franchise shocked when she addressed a famous fan-theory.
James Bond, the famous British spy, has always been a white male played by multiple different actors over the past years, most recent one being Daniel Craig.
As a new Bond movie is reportedly in production right now, many fans were in the favour of casting a woman as the new 007.
However, Halle, who starred as the Bond girl in 2002’s Die Another Day alongside Pierce Brosnan, does not agree with the concept of a female Bond.
Halle appeared at the Cannes film festival jury press conference on May 13 and was questioned on this idea to which she replied:
“I don’t know if 007 should be a woman. In 2025 it’s nice to say, ‘Oh, he should be a woman.’ But I don’t know if that’s the right thing to do.”
“I agree with her….they should start writing new characters/storylines instead of reintroducing the same plot again by swapping genders”, a fan responded to her comment.
Halle Berry was 36 when she starred as Jinx in the 2002's Die Another Day alongside Pierce Brosnan.
