The Primetime Emmy Awards nominations are finally out. Every Emmy season comes with unexpected snubs and delightful surprises and 2025 is no exception.
From unpredictable newcomers stealing the limelight to fan-favourite shows left out, this year’s nominations have sparked plenty of buzz.
Unsurprisingly, the expected contenders including Severance, The Pitt, Adolescence, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez, and The White Lotus made their entry into the coveted nominations.
However, the 2025 Emmy Awards nominations failed to acknowledge a number of long favourites with nominations. Here is a closer look at the major snubs and surprises.
Squid Game, one of the most hit and compelling Netflix series, saw its season 2 completely absent from this year’s nominations. Previously, the thriller TV show won six Emmys including the top prize of best drama actor for Lee Jung-jae for its first season in 2022.

A surprising omission from the actor category included Diego Luna starring in Andor drama series.
The American singer was not nominated for her starring role in Only Murders in the Building, giving her a major blow.
The seven-time Emmy winner and Oscar winner Allison Janney didn’t receive a nomination for her role in the season 2 of The Diplomat.
