Elmo, who is an infamous Muppet character from Sesame Street, addressed a major setback after losing control of X (formerly Twitter).
On Sunday, the social media managers of the famous television series faced an unprecedented situation after their account was hacked.
However, the musical officials shared an update on their social media pages, claiming that “an outside party” infiltrated the handle despite their security measures.
They clarified their stance on controversial topics by condemning the “antisemitic and racist content” that was shared from their end.
It was also noted that the posts and updates do not “reflect the values” of the workshop. They insisted that none of their members from the “organization was involved.”
Fans rushed to support their favourite character as one user expressed love for Elmo, assuring: “We knew it wasn’t you.”
Another admirer poked fun at the situation, writing: “Elmo found out the hard way that Sesame123” is not a strong password.
Meanwhile a third one was only concerned about the puppet as they asked: “Is Elmo ok? That’s all matters.”
The show defined the childhood of many as it was the “biggest educational” series that aired on television. However, the three and a half-year-old is notable for his distinctive, high-pitched voice.
