'The Boys' star Jensen Ackles drops major update on prequel

Jensen Ackles left fans excited by sharing new details about The Boys upcoming prequel, Vought Rising.

Recently, the 47-year-old actor attended Creation Entertainment’s Supernatural 20th anniversary convention in Michigan, celebrating his role as Dean Winchester that spanned over two decades.

The Supernatural star confirmed Vought Rising will explore Soldier Boy’s origins through a “different lens because this is the genesis of it all.”

He teased a “coming of age story” for his brutal character, promising more “vulnerability” than shown in The Boys season 3.

This revelation comes as the franchise expands, with Gen V season 2 premiering September 17, 2025 and the main series concluding in 2026.

Ackles' dual appearances highlight his iconic TV legacy, from hunting demons to battling corrupt superheroes under showrunner Eric Kipke’s vision.

At the convention, the actor reflected on his journey while hyping Soldier Boy’s evolution, “He’s had now decades to mask that and build up the gruff exterior that you get on The Boys. This is kind of peeling all that away.”

Though the plot of Vought Rising is kept under wraps, the main story will take place in the 50’s and will predominantly focus on Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront.

The prequel is expected to begin production in 2025; however, no official announcement has been made yet.
